Awesome Movie Moments: The Nightmare Before Christmas

So we are in that between time; Halloween (the best holiday) has passed and Christmas is on the horizon, so I have been singing songs from Nightmare Before Christmas in the shower, in the car, even in bed, much to the annoyance of my wife. I thought it would be nice to look at my favorite moment and favorite song from the movie; “This is Halloween”!

The song is great at drawing the audience into this spooky but charming world. As the camera zooms through the Halloween door, we are introduced to a twisted and jagged world of Halloween Town. As the song progresses we are taken on a tour of the town and are introduced to the residents who inhabit its crooked streets: One-eyed witches, werewolves, the monster under your bed, and most terrifying of all, a clown with a tear-away face!

This song is just a fantastic way to enrich the stop-motion world and breath life into these characters. As the song draws to a close the hero of the movie, Jack Skelington the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, arrives as his loyal subjects praise him. This movie moment takes all the stuff I love about Halloween, the creepiness, pumpkins, monsters, and gives it all character! Also, there is a pretty awesome cover of this song by Marilyn Manson.
